In our school P.E. is taught to all children irrespective of their gender, race, creed or ability. It is important that all children are provided with equal access to all curriculum areas.
Physical Education is the development of pupils’ physical competence and confidence and their ability to perform in a range of activities which promote skillfulness. It is the foundation of all sports participation in which children learn how to plan, perform and evaluate actions and ideas individually and in teams. P.E. promotes the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and taking regular exercise in order to develop healthy bodies and minds for the future.
A high quality of physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It provides opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect. By the end of each key stage, pupils are expected to know, apply and understand the matters, skills and processes specified in the relevant programme of study.
